Salon 1336 in Wimborne Road is celebrating its new status as a recognised centre for excellence in training. The accreditation from Train to Gain means students from all over the area can now sit assessments at the salon and undergo training. Salon owner Natalie Cranston and manager Tracey Verrall, who have worked closely with Bournemouth and Poole College for many years and are qualified assessors, will deliver the training. Natalie, who was previously employed as official hairdresser to the Saudi Royal family, said: "Becoming a training academy formalises our dedication to training new hairdressers. We’re delighted to see so many young people taking up the profession – the workplace experience and guidance we can offer will set them up for life." The salon will be open to the public as normal and the training academy will run between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday evenings, when members of the public will be offered a cut and blow dry by trainees for £9. The salon currently has four trainees aged 18 to 20 working for an NVQ in Hairdressing and will also be open by arrangement to students on day release from the college.
